The Monster at the End of this Book

The Monster at the end of this Book, starring Lovable, Furry Old Grover is one of my favorite books to read aloud.  My sister gave it to my children when they were preschoolers, and we have enjoyed it for many years.

In it, Grover sees the title of the book and is scared.  He talks to the reader, trying to persuade her to stop turning the pages so she doesn’t read the end of the book and see the monster.

He nails pages together, he builds a brick wall, he tries everything – and obviously does not succeed.

Its Grover, from Sesame Street, so of course he’s very dramatic, which is what makes this book so fun to read aloud.

And, of course, all’s well that ends well – but I’m not going to tell you how it ends!  This is a great gift book for toddlers and preschoolers.  I think I read it nearly every day for about three years – if not longer.  And it’s still on my bookshelf, because we, my children and I,  like to read it to our little friends who visit.
