Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

I admit it.  I love kids books that make me laugh.  And Mo Willems writes and illustrates some of the funniest books for the preschool crowd.

In Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, the reader ‘interacts’ with the Pigeon, who uses every one of his wiles to convince you to allow him to drive the bus.  But, in the end, you (the reader) hold your ground, and the Pigeon is thwarted, much to the bus driver’s relief.

Willems wrote several more books featuring the Pigeon – and each of them makes me laugh out loud.  They include:

  • Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late!
  • The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog!
  • The Pigeon Wants a Puppy!

But don’t limit your Mo Willems’ reading list to just the Pigeon books, as fun as they are.  Willems has written many other books which are fun to read – including Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed (you can’t pass up that title, can you?  You shouldn’t!), Knufflebunny: A Cautionary Tale, Leonardo the Terrible Monster and Edwina: The Dinosaur Who Didn’t Know She Was Extinct.  Those are just the titles I pulled off my library shelf – and I loved every one of them.

If you like to laugh – or need to laugh – you will love Mo Willems.
