If you’re looking for a delightful picture book to read to a preschooler, you cannot go wrong with Mo Willems. He has a whole library of picture books which delight both parents and children. (You can read about some here, and here.)
In Hooray for Amanda and Her Alligator, Amanda loves her alligator, even if he is a bit high-maintenance. Alligator does not like to be without Amanda, and constantly demands surprises. But Amanda is happy to oblige.
Alligator loves Amanda’s surprises, until she comes home from the zoo with a surprise Alligator does not like at all. A panda.
Toddlers and preschoolers will enjoy discovering if Panda and Alligator can be friends.
