The Incredible Book Eating Boy

“Henry loved books.  But not like you and I love books, no.  Not quite…” reads the front fly of this book.

I’m afraid to say more about the story – I mean you can guess the gist of it.  But if I tell you more, I might give away the ending.  And it’s a lovely ending.

I love the way Oliver Jeffers (author & illustrator of The Hueys) illustrated The Incredible Book Eating Boy by Oliver Jeffers.  It’s not a typical picture book.  Many of the pages look like conglomerations of other book pages, and the type changes frequently – sometimes in the middle of a sentence.

Overall, the story and the illustrations are entrancing, and enjoyable.

Highly recommended for ages 3 -8.
