Nooks and Crannies

Tabitha feels unloved. In fact, she is unloved. Her parents don’t love her, in spite of her efforts to earn their love. Her best friend in the world is a mouse.

One day her world changes because of an envelope. In the envelope is an invitation to visit the country estate of the reclusive Countess of Windermere.

Tabitha is shocked. Her parents are shocked.

They go to the estate, where Tabitha finds a real mystery to solve. And in solving that mystery, she also discovers why her parents don’t love her, and despite that fact, she can also be friends with other children too.

Nooks & Crannies by Jessica Lawson is a sweet book with a very sympathetic main character and a fascinating mystery to boot. I spotted one solution nearly right away – but not the second one.

Highly recommended for ages 8 and up (depending on reading level).
