Nella is outnumbered by younger brothers. She desperately wants a sister – and finds one, for a time – in Angela. But as they grow and change, Nella grows tired of Angela and is captivated by Clem, the new girl.
As life changes more quickly than she wants or anticipates, Nella finds herself caught between two friends, between what she thought was true and what is true, between what she wants to happen and what actually happens.
I enjoyed Every Single Second by Tricia Springstubb a lot. Audiobook listeners must pay careful attention to the chapter titles as a majority of the book bounces back and forth between ‘Then’ and ‘Now’.
Recommended for ages 9 and up.
