Scout

A Scottie and his ball get separated, so he traverses his apartment building trying to find it.  While searching, he makes friends with the other animals in his building, and when they eventually find his ball, they all play together.

Scout by Gordon McMillian is a sweet story, full of simple illustrations which will catch a child’s eye.  At first I wasn’t sure about the illustrations – no shading, one-color, and the cat is purple.  But when I read it again, I really liked how the simplicity of the drawings reflected the simplicity of the story.

This is a book children will want to hear over and over again, even if adults get tired of reading it.

Recommended for ages infant to 5.
