Linda Sue Park is one of my favorite authors (see reviews of other books here, here and here), so when I saw she had written a picture book, I snatched it up. I was hoping it was as good as her chapter books, and I was not disappointed!
Xander is a panda, and a panda who wants to party! But he’s the only panda at the zoo, so he decides to expand his invitation list. But objections and complications keep coming up, and his guest list keeps growing and growing. Soon, Xander is feeling discouraged; how is he going to pull off this party?
With the help of his new friend, Amanada, of course.
And the day of the party comes the biggest surprise of all.
Xander’s Panda Party is ever-so-fun to read aloud – with all sorts of rhyming and rhythm that I love, complimented by illustrations by Matt Phelan.
Highly recommended for ages 6 months to 5 years.
