Infinity and Me

How much is infinity?  What does that mean?

Infinity is an abstract concept, difficult for young children to understand.  Which is why Infinity and Me by Kate Hosford is a great book to share with young children, even elementary school children.

In Infinity and Me, Hosford explores the idea of infinity as her narrator asks several people how they think of infinity.  The little girl gets rather overwhelmed, until she talks with her grandmother, and realizes that no matter how big infinity is, it’s easier to understand when someone loves you.

I enjoyed the story, and particularly enjoyed Gabi Swiatkowska’s illustrations – rather surreal, yet concrete – a bit like the idea of infinity itself.

Recommended for ages 4 – 10.
