If you or your child is studying the Middle Ages, you must get a copy of Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from a Medieval Village by Laura Amy Schlitz.
In it, you’ll read from nearly two dozen viewpoints about life in a medieval village – from the lord’s nephew, to the begger, from the blacksmith’s daughter to the doctor’s son – with helpful notes to explain references within the poems, and two-page spreads called “A Little Background” which explain important aspects of the medieval world.
These poems can be read aloud, read silently or even performed in a class.
Highly recommended for ages 4th-grade to 9th-grade.
