“Dylan was someone who noticed things. His mom was someone who wasn’t.”
Ouch. How many times am I guilty of that? Focusing on my to-do list while ignoring everything around me?
This day, Dylan noticed music. He asked his mom to stop to listen, but she was too busy. The music captivated Dylan – he wanted to hear more.
He did – and the second time, his mom heard it too.
The story, and afterword, of The Man with the Violin by Kathy Stinson is good. The illustrations by Dušan Petrčić are amazing. Dylan’s world is black and white and hard edges and angles, until the music. Then is colors and swirls and beauty.
Highly recommended for ages 2-8.
