Turtle in Paradise

When Turtle’s mom gets a maid position with a woman who doesn’t like children, her mom sends her to her aunt’s house in Key West.

In the middle of the Great Depression, you do what you have to do to get by.

Turtle’s aunt and cousins aren’t thrilled to see her. And she isn’t thrilled to be there either.

But 11yo Turtle has no choice. So, she makes the best of it, even if she doesn’t have the best attitude.

While there, Turtle discovers more family she never knew she had, finds a treasure map and endures a hurricane and heartbreak.

And realizes she finally found a home.

I really enjoyed Turtle in Paradise by Jennifer L. Holm. Highly recommended for ages 10 and up.
