One Time

Gina Filomena has a new neighbor whose wide, welcoming smile catches her off-guard.

She like his smile. She likes his imagination, which makes her look at her neighborhood differently.

When Antonio shows up at her class, and offers his generous smile to everyone, Gina feels a bit put out.

But the tenor of the whole class changes with Antonio and a new, creative teacher.

And suddenly, life seems full of possibilities.

I enjoyed One Time by Sharon Creech. Gina’s interaction with the school counselor had me laughing outright so I had to read the section to my daughter.

Children ages 8 and up will enjoy this delightful story.

Other books by Sharon Creech: Ruby Holler, The Castle Corona, Walk Two Moons.
