Wolf Hollow

Annabelle enjoys her life in rural Pennsylvania, even if it’s a little boring. Just as she is wishing for something exciting to happen, Betty Glengarry walks into her classroom. And Annabelle’s life changes.

Betty is a problem child, who was kicked out of her city school and sent to live with her grandparents. She threatens Annabelle and her little brothers daily on their walk to school. She lies convincingly – and her lies lead Annabelle to lie for the first time in her life.

All the lies center around Toby, a World War I veteran who wanders the woods in their area. Toby is Annabelle’s friend. Betty targets any leftover aggression after bullying Annabelle towards Toby.

Very quickly, Annabelle realizes she will need to speak out for justice – no matter the cost.

Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk is a classic coming-of-age tale for readers ages 10 and up. This is a book I would consider purchasing for my personal bookshelf, it’s that good.

Highly recommended.
